Это одна из самых моих любимых композиций Pink Floyd... При прослушивании слёзы навернулись, особенно на фразах "And the generals give thanks, as the over ranks held back the enemy tanks" и "And no one survived from the Royal Fusilers Company "Z"...

Flesh ненавязчиво продемонстрировал свое согласие с тем, что Эрик Флетчер служил в роте Z, так как 8-й батальон королевских фузилеров (стрелков) делился на роты W, X, Y и Z.
А не на роты A,B,C,D - как считает масса комментаторов текста, в том числе русскоязычных -

The 8th Battalion Royal Fusiliers consisted of four companies. They were designated companies "W", "X", "Y", and "Z". Eric Fletcher Waters served in Company "Z". If you think Roger is singing "C" in this song, you are mistaken; listen again. Also, if you think Roger should sing "Zed" instead of "Zee", you are somewhat correct. I asked Roger about this when I met him at the Ca Ira premiere in New York City. Basically, Roger said, "I changed it from 'Zed' to 'Zee' so that it would rhyme."
